Il Lake District è il più grande parco nazionale d'Inghilterra e patrimonio mondiale dell'UNESCO. Questa meravigliosa area ha paesaggi spettacolari, villaggi pittoreschi e un ricco patrimonio culturale.
Ullswater lake
As a child growing up in the British colonies that were present in Africa and having an English based education, I can thoroughly describe myself as a true Anglophile. You say what is an Anglophile? Well, it is a person who greatly admires or favours England and all things English. Living for most of my childhood and younger adult life in Africa and then moving to northern Italy where my ancestors originated did not stop my yearning to visit the "mother country"
I have been fortunate to visit England a couple of times and have always wanted to see the world famous Lake District. I was fortunate to be able to fulfil my dream for the first time in September last year and more recently in May this year.
Da bambina cresciuta nelle colonie britanniche che erano presenti in Africa e con le scuole basate sul sistema Inglese, posso descrivermi a fondo come una vera anglofilia. Chiedete cos'è una anglofilia? Allora è una persona che ammira o favorisce molto l'Inghilterra e tutto ciò che è Inglese. Vivere per la maggior parte della mia infanzia e prima età adulta in Africa e poi trasferirmi nel nord Italia, dove hanno avuto origine i miei antenati, non ha fermato il mio desiderio di visitare la cosiddetta "madrepatria"
Ho avuto la fortuna di visitare l'Inghilterra un paio di volte e ho sempre desiderato vedere il famoso Lake District e di poter realizzare il mio sogno per la prima volta a settembre dello scorso anno e più recentemente a maggio di quest'anno.

The Lake District is one of England’s most mountainous regions and home to the nation’s tallest peak and largest lake. In addition to its 16 lakes, the region is covered in stunning greenery over summer, but it’s also beautiful throughout the year.
My first visit was in September last year which is early autumn, so the fall colours were not fully developed. The above photo was taken on the edge of the Lake Districts' largest lake; Lake Windermere shows the early start of the changing seasons and covers an area of nearly 15.5 sq km, making it the largest natural body of water in the nation.
Il Lake District è una regione montuosa nel nord ovest dell'Inghilterra, sede della montagna più alta e del lago più grande della nazione. La regione vanta ben 16 laghi e un paesaggio magnifico in qualsiasi periodo dell'anno.
La mia prima visita è stata a settembre dello scorso anno nelle prime giornate di autunno, quindi i colori non erano completamente sviluppati. In May of this year, I headed back, this time to visit Ullswater Lake. This spectacular lake is of glacial origin and is the second largest lake in the region by both area and volume, after Windermere and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery to its south, softening to the gentle hills of the north. This is where my breath was taken away by the sheer beauty of this area. Although it was early in May, the colours were almost autumnal which for me as a landscape photographer was great! know that there is more to see, but my time was limited, and hopefully, I'll return again soon.
Nel maggio di quest'anno sono tornata, questa volta per visitare il lago Ullswater. Questo lago spettacolare è di origine glaciale ed è il secondo lago più grande della regione per superficie e volume, dopo Windermere. Il lago è circondato da uno splendido scenario montuoso a sud, che si ammorbidisce verso le dolci colline del nord. Qui è dove il mio respiro è stato tolto dalla pura bellezza di questa zona. Anche se era l'inizio di maggio, i colori erano quasi autunnali, che per me come fotografa di paesaggi è stato fantastico! So che c'è altro da vedere, ma il mio tempo era limitato e, si spera, che tornerò presto.
